1. What if my business was in the process if opening and sustained damage? Am I eligible for SBA disaster assistance?
Yes. A business that was in the process of starting operations and had purchased fixed assets, inventory, etc., that was subsequently damaged or destroyed by the disaster is eligible. This is true even if that business had not actually “opened its doors” before the disaster occurred. Such businesses are considered to be in the “organizing stage” and are required to provide documentation such as: Receipts or contractual agreements for inventory or machinery and equipment purchases; and Advertisements, employment classified ads, etc
